Fire Sprinkler Designer

Poole Fire Protection is looking for a creative and innovative Fire Sprinkler Designer for the Kansas City Area. The Fire Sprinkler Designer prepares code compliant fire sprinkler designs using HydraCAD and/or AutoSPRINK software for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for all aspects of sprinkler design, including hydraulic calculations, shop drawing preparation, stock listing, and project management
• Design and layout of fire protection systems to meet NFPA, and/or FM criteria
• Coordinate piping layout with other trades
• Troubleshoot issues raised by AHJ, customers and installers
• Prepare hydraulic calculations and project submittal drawings
• Receive and respond to customer design needs
• Correspond with municipalities and AHJs for design needs
• Maintain project drawing files and associated files
• Assists in field surveys and system testing/commissioning

Job Expectations and Requirements: 

• Previous experience in the fire protection industry (minimum three years)
• NICET II or above in Fire Protection Water-Based Systems
• Competent working knowledge of applicable NFPA standards
• Ability to read and effectively interpret architectural/engineering plans, schematics, design drawings, etc.
• Proficient in HydraCAD and/or AutoSPRINK
• Proficient in AutoCAD
• Good interpersonal and communication skills combined with the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Must be responsible, personable, detail oriented, and self-motivated with solid organization and time management skills that lead to timely completion of projects
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously

Preferred: 

• Fire pump design experience
• Low-, Medium-, and High-Expansion Foam system design experience
• Revit experience
• HydraCAD for Revit and/or AutoSPRINK RVT experience
• Navisworks experience
• DoD project experience with knowledge of UFC codes

The position includes minimal travel (0% to 15%). The position will be based out of Olathe, Kansas (Kansas City). Candidates must successfully complete an employment background investigation and drug screening.
